Duo Fiori Musicali
“[A]ll the ingredients of delightful music making: great tone, effortless execution and wonderful programming.”
(Nylon Review, New York City Classical Guitar Society)
Duo Fiori Musicali, Joseph Trent (flute) & Lars Frandsen (guitar), currently performs with an emphasis on nineteenth century concert repertoire and its performance practices.
While the duo performs the music of many eras on modern instruments also, its fascination with the dynamic interaction between the historically informed performer and the written score remains a focal point. This fascination is rooted in the interpretive freedom associated with historical performance at its best; hence the use above of the plural for performance practices.
The duo frequently collaborates with other artists presenting expanded ensemble repertoire.
Joseph Trent (flute) graduated from the New England Conservatory, and served as principal flutist in the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed with numerous ensembles including the New York Chamber Ensemble, Jupiter Symphony, Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Virtuosi Woodwind Quintet, Greenwich Symphony, New Haven Symphony, Saint Ignatius Loyola and Tanglewood Fellowship Orchestra.
Mr. Trent plays historical and modern flutes as well as a variety of ethnic bamboo flutes; he has given performances at the Lincoln Center, Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, Jordan Hall and Wolf Trap in Boston.
Premieres of new works by contemporary composers include those of Isang Yun, Matthew Rosenblum and Stephen Dodgson.
